Week 2 Assignment, Part 3: List of School Improvement Recommendations
Recommendation #1 – Increasing Parental Involvement
Currently
my school has a parental Involvement committee working to improve parental
involvement on our campus. Currently,
the committee exists but I think it should be expanded to include more
stakeholders and the committee should work harder to get teachers to commit to
collaborating and communicating with parents.
As we have discussed in many of our classes, if developed correctly,
involving all stakeholders in the process of improving all areas of school
operations, student success can be enhanced and achieved. I would recommend
that we review our current processes and committee structure and revise the
framework as needed.
Recommendation
#2 - Increasing technology in the classroom
Planning and designing learning environments and
experiences for implementing technology in the classroom that support
student learning is important.
Technology needs to be increased at my campus to keep up with the
technology based world that we live in.
It is important that we focus on assisting teachers with ongoing
development of knowledge, skills and understanding of technology, resources,
and service to advance the diverse needs of students.
Recommendation
# 3 - More resources for bilingual students
At my campus the student population consists of 90%
Hispanics and 25% are bilingual students who need services. I recommend that our campus get more
resources to assist bilingual students with learning English as well as
resources to accommodate them in their classes. These students are in need of
more resources to ensure that they are successful academically.

# 4 - Effective Discipline Management Program
Every year my campus starts out with a great idea of
how we can implement a good discipline management program. By the middle of the year the discipline
program falls off and discipline at the school is out of control. I recommend that we create an effective
discipline management program that is staff will commit to stay consistent with
that will effectively control discipline issues.
Recommendation
# 5 - Incentives for teachers
It is important that teachers feel appreciated so
therefore they will come to work daily.
I would recommend that my campus implement a teacher appreciation
program that provides incentives for coming to work daily. This will make teachers feel valued and
appreciated so they will want to show up to teach our students.
